Rituals of Melancholy

large format prints, 2021Rituals of melancholy is an intervention in large format photography.
With this series, I try to interface with the lack of stillness in my life. I use large format film, a medium which is generally more structured and planned and subvert it by using it to capture movement. I meticulously perform my daily life for a daunting machine in hopes to understand it. The work can be shown as individual pieces or all together, it takes a central theme of my life and shows how my mind feels about it. Recovering from my worst depressive spell, this project aims to document the liminal space I currently exist in. Not terribly sad, but not happy in any way either.
